Who we are
This is Pune (thisispune.com) is a free information site about Pune, run from Pune, Maharashtra, India. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), we are the data fiduciary for the small amount of data described below.
What we collect
Nothing you type. The site has no accounts, no forms, no comments and no newsletter, so we don't collect names, emails or phone numbers.
No cookies. The site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. We use Google Analytics 4 in its cookieless mode: it sends Google an anonymous page-view ping (the page, your device type and approximate region) without any cookie or identifier that could recognise you on a later visit. We use the totals to see which pages are useful.
Weather. Area pages ask Open-Meteo, a free weather service, for the forecast directly from your browser, so Open-Meteo sees your IP address the way any website you load does. We don't send it anything else.
Server logs. Our host (GoDaddy) keeps standard access logs (IP address, page, time, browser) for security and troubleshooting.
Who receives data
Google (cookieless GA4 page-view pings), Open-Meteo (weather requests) and GoDaddy (hosting). We don't sell data or share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Aggregated GA4 data is kept for at most 14 months. Server logs are kept by the host for a short rolling period. Nothing is stored in your browser.
Cookies
None. Google Analytics runs with storage permanently denied (Google Consent Mode), so it sets no cookies, and the site has no advertising, login or tracking cookies of its own.
Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you can ask what data we hold about you, have it corrected or erased, and raise a grievance. Because we don't collect anything that identifies you, there is usually nothing to correct or erase. You can block Google Analytics with any content blocker, and manage your Google data in your Google account. You can also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Changes
If what we collect changes, we update this page and the date above first.
